Collagen has been shown through various research to be well tolerated and safe and not impact kidney function in both healthy animal and human subjects.

As you are probably aware its recommended that you manage a dogs' diet with kidney disease to maintain low levels of sodium, phosphorus & reduced protein.

Collagen is a pure protein, however it comes in the form of hydrolysed peptides (partially digested by enzymes) in order to increase its bio-availability which means that the protein is easily digested.

If you have found an ideal renal diet balance already then do be aware that collagen will be introducing a little more protein to their diet.

We have many customers whose dogs have CKD, but please refer to your vet if you want further advice.
